First off, HELLO !!!! I can’t explain how fast this summer has gone. I remember Memorial Day like it was last week, then I realized that was the last email I sent out. Now, we are around the corner from Labor Day and another Summer has gone by. Maybe it’s my theory of time exponentially moving faster as we get older. Anyway, sorry to get off topic (I really need to start making email videos instead of my long run-on sentences, but to those of you who know me well >>> U get it! If not, u will soon ….).
Where to start ??? I have so much to share that I could not even try to pack it into one email. So, I decided (Just now) to just share with you last Thursday Afternoon/evening. OK, here we go… I have been growing some amazing Chilis this summer: Chocolate Habs, Jolokia’s, Fatali’s, Scorpions, and more (though you may not be aware, these are all types of habanero peppers). Some I started from seed back in early April. Some I got as small plants in May. This year, I decided to grow 4 of the plants atop my upside-down tomato plant tower (see pics). I have loved these plants, fed them well, watered them just enough, and applied some tricks I have learned along the way. I can now tell you that last Thursday, I honestly ate the HOTTEST Chilies I have ever had the privilege to Enjoy. I brought some to Death Sauce HQ and shared these Mind F-in Treats with my crew!!!!! WOW!!!! It was like nothing I can explain (Though I know many of my Chilipals reading this can relate). In any event, these are different. True Body High stuff (the kinds legends are made from).
Karin, Gary, Rachel, Luis, Eduardo, and I started eating small slices at a time and it ended up being Myself and Gary eating a total of 7 Whole pods (Trust me, that’s a lot! These are not your run of the mill super Hots). Funny part was that we couldn’t stop eating them. It was, and is, addicting. As much as it hurt, it felt amazing. Ok, so call me nutz, it’s a Chilihead thing (many of u so get what I’m sayin’ with a huge smile!). I could just keep going on about these amazing pods, but go ahead and take a look for yourself. Enjoy the photos below and I can’t wait to speak to you very soon. With much respect, All my best to you!
See these Bad-ass plants growing atop some exotic tomato plants.
Amazing pods as their capsaicin level grows more and more each day.
Here I am at Death Sauce HQ, slicing into my 3rd pod of the afternoon, feeling a good buzz.
Gary and I feeling no pain by our 4th chili!
Karin and I about to enjoy her 1st killer pod and my 5th!
I am in that Endorphin Mega High Phase!
Now, I’m really starting to feel it. Time to get Rachel to start enjoying.
As you can see, I had to change my shirt and sit down! I just said F-it and took the Scorpion Pod. I bit down on it and ended up eating it all! It was a most amazing experience!!!
After that fun-as-hell late afternoon, I went to see an old friend, Brian Kirk, play at Pier Village in Long Branch, NJ, on the Ocean. Thanks to the Long Branch PD for letting me park so close.
PS. I know that many of you will be reading this email in 43 different countries plus every state in the USA, but to my Jersey shore pals, you get the last photo. Plus I worked there in 1985 when I was 16 years old and it was called the Long Branch Pier/Arcade (a much different time and place back then). I worked making burgers and dogs at Big Al’s, and there was a Giant Water slide across the street!!!!! Ok, I’ll save the spicy details for my book (in about a decade or so).
Thanks for taking the time to read my little walk down memory lane. Maybe it’s because I am in Chilipepper Bliss !!!!!!!!!!! Be on the lookout for lots of emails coming soon with so many announcements and exciting things to share!
